Bits and Pieces!

Hi Everybody,

This will probably be a pretty random email today because that's the way our brains are functioning this week!

1.  Three 16 hour days this week.....starting each morning by leaving the house at 7:00 a.m. and here and there and everywhere doing everything until after 10:00 at night.  Sometimes it feels like we're too old for this!  But then we wake up the next morning with the energy to do it again which is a blessing we hope we deserve.

2.  Spent almost $20 doing laundry this week.  Were we that dirty??  But a blessing coming out of the laundromat is that we're good enough friends with people there now that they introduce us by our missionary titles.  And it helps that we wear nametags.

3.  The Toyota just keeps on going.  It could probably drive to Owego by itself (and we could have naps on the way)  One day last week, we drove missionaries there for zone leader training and brought them back only to turn around and go back a half hour later for CES training.  It takes about an hour one way to get there to the stake center.  Then the next night we went back for Wednesday Institute.  One of my most favorite essays from an English class is called "Blessing the Chevrolet."  We do that pretty regularly with the Highlander.

4.  Another big Friday Forum with 47 people there.  And here is the best of the best.  Two of the non-members there asked for Books of Mormon (Book of Mormons????  Whatever).  And the Sisters were table-ing this week and got to give away several pamphlets and two Book of Mormons.  And somebody called the CURW office and accused them of proselyting.  They weren't.  The students hand out the flyers for free lunch and pass-along cards and then refer them to the missionaries sitting at the table if they'd like further information.  Every once in a while an anti-Mormon sentiment surfaces but generally pretty much most people are tolerant and even friendly.

5.  A big event is being planned for the the dedication of the Harmony, Penn.  Priesthood Restoration Site.  President "slipped" and mentioned something about September 17th but the actual date hasn't been announced.  In a month the CES missionaries get their own personal tour by the CES supervisors which will really be something to look forward to.

6.  ALL day in Palmyra on Saturday for the wedding and lunch and reception of Tim and Alicia.  They met in Institute last summer and she stayed here for her medical rotation and he went back to school at BYUI and the rest is history.  Think we told you their story.  Dad was a witness representing Alicia's family none of whom are members.  That night we went to a goodbye dinner with Naroe and her Mom and her good friend.  We will miss Naroe!  She was our Institute President who's become like one of our grandkids.  Dinner in a classy Italian restaurant in The Commons with all the under 30 crowd is pretty lively.

7.  .....and a Sunday that wasn't hardly a day of rest but was great.  We had a wonderful Regional Conference broadcast for Church today.  We love hearing the Brethren and the Sisters speak!  Then a baby shower for some good friends for their first baby.  Daniel's not a member and all his fellow students from Cornell who also aren't members came and they're from Colombia and it was a fun event.  Then a concert for the Ithaca College School of Music Symphony Orchestra....one of our YSA plays the violin in the orchestra and we try and support these kids in their activities.  That part of our "assignment" is one of our favorites!!!  Then a YSA gathering at the Branch President's house,  then a branch correllation council, and now we're home and it's time to go to bed!!

So....our brains aren't into writing clever, entertaining emails this week but we're thinking a good night's sleep will surely help.   And hey, the daffodils and the little purple flowers and the yellow bushes are all out which every morning gives us a new lease on life even though the temperature outside is still 20 degrees below normal....and the grass is green!

We've loved the emails and the texts with pictures that you've sent this week.  Doesn't make us homesick....just makes us happy!  Remember that we're always praying for you to have missionary experiences with those you know and those you don't know.  And the best experience you could have is showing others of the love of Jesus Christ for them through you.

WE LOVE YOU!!

Dad and Mom, Grandpa and Grandma et al
